Part 2. Monitoring usage of multiple computers

After test driving Boss Everyware at a single computer (Part 1. Monitoring usage of your computer), let us monitor several computers in the office.

Here's how this will work:

Boss Everyware is fully installed on the administrator's computer. The monitored computers only have the Logger, installed via deployment package. The Loggers collect usage data and write it into the shared network folder \\Server01\Bedata. The Reports application reads collected data from the logs and arranges them into reports. The Loggers are controlled by the shared external configuration file logcfg.cfg. Administrator updates the configuration file using the Logger Configuration tool on his computer.

To deploy the loggers, we use the deployment package - a program that installs a pre-configured logger. You can create deployment packages for different configuration sets within the Logger Configuration tool.

Here's how to implement this:

1. Install Boss Everyware on your computer.
2. Create the network folder \\Server01\Bedata and give all the monitored users read/write permissions to this folder.
3. Prepare a common logger configuration
4. Create an external configuration file
5. Make the deployment package and deploy the loggers
6. Set the correct data source for reports
7. Updating the remote logger settings
