How to put Boss Everyware into the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i exclusion list:
First, we will add the
exclusions for Spyware-BE
and BossEveryware to the Unwanted Programs Policy, and then ensure the Unwanted Program Policy is enabled for all
types of scan - On-Access, Full
Scan and Targeted Scan.
After that,
we will adjust the Access Protection
rules to allow Boss Everyware to register file types, create files in the
Windows folder and write to the registry Run key.
Here are the
step-by-step instructions for this task:
Setting
up the Unwanted Programs Policy
- Run the McAfee VirusScan Console.
- Double-click the Unwanted Programs Policy
line.
- In the Unwanted Programs Policy
box, click the Exclusions... button.
- In the Set Unwanted Program Exclusions box, click Add....
- In the Unwanted Program Exclusion
dialog box, type Spyware-BE.
- Click OK, then repeat steps 4 and 5
typing BossEveryware
as the second excluded item.
- Click OKthree times.
Ensure the
Unwanted Programs Policy is enabled for all types of scan:
- In the VirusScan Console, double-click the On-Access Scan line.
- In the Access Scan Properties, click the All Processes icon, then click the Unwanted Programs tab.
- Ensure the Detect Unwanted Programs checkbox is
selected and click OK.
- In the VirusScan Console, double-click the Full Scan line.
- In the Full Scan Properties, click the Unwanted Programs tab.
- Ensure the Detect Unwanted Programs checkbox is
selected and click OK.
- Repeat steps 11-13
for the Targeted Scan.
Adjusting the Access Protection rules
- In the VirusScan Console, double-click the Access Protection line. The next actions
are performed in the Access Protection
Properties dialog box.
- In the Categories list, click the Anti-Virus Maximum Protection line, then double-click the Prevent alteration of all file
extension registrations rule.
- In the Rule Details - Processes to exclude, add
comma to the end of list and type INS*.tmp, then click OK.
- In the Categories list, click the Common Maximum Protection line.
- Double-click the Prevent programs registering to autorun rule.
- In the Rule Details - Processes to exclude, add comma to the end of list and type INS*.tmp,
beconfig.exe, bedepl.exe, wsa32.exe,
then click OK.
- Double-click the Prevent creation of new executable files in the Windows
folder rule.
- In the Rule Details - Processes to exclude, add
comma to the end of list and type INS*.tmp, bedepl.exe, beconfig.exe, then click OK twice.
