Logger configuration files

Imagine that you have a dozen of Loggers on different computers, and you need to change, e.g., their working hours or exclude an application from monitoring list! Visiting each computer, running the Logger Configurator and doing the same reconfiguring would be too time consuming. There is an easier way: using the Logger configuration files.

The idea is: Logger configuration is stored as a file. You change the network-located configuration files on your computer, and the Loggers on other computers update their configurations from these files. You can use one configuration file for all Loggers, or control each Logger with its own configuration file.

To use this feature, current Logger configuration must have the option Use external configuration turned on:

This means that the Logger periodically looks for the file specified in this option. If the file contains a newer configuration than the current one, the Logger loads the configuration from the file. Then Logger updates its current configuration in the Registry, and starts to work according to the new configuration. If the specified configuration file is not found, the Logger uses its current Registry configuration without any error message.

To create a configuration file, open Logger Configurator, set the options, switch to Deploy page and click Save. Specify a file name - and all your settings will be stored in this file. To review and/or change these settings later, you can open the file with Open.
