Case 2 - Step 1

Preparing a common logger configuration

On this step Pete prepares configuration for the loggers. Logger deployment package will use it as initial configuration for installed loggers. Pete wants that

  • each monitored computer has its own weekly log file
  • monitoring is performed during the working hours only
  • loggers don't record his (Pete's) activity
  • loggers are maximally protected from intrusion

Pete opens Logger Configurator - Log file and specifies a location where the log files will be written to:

One common log file could become very large and thus difficult to handle, so Pete turns on the option Log file name - Auto, based on computer name. This way each logger will write its own log file named as [ComputerName-Date].elt.

Then Pete opens Schedule page and sets up working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To make the log files weekly, he checks Start a new log file Every 7 days.

To instruct the loggers to watch all the users except himself, Pete moves to the Data page and checks Log selected users only

opens Select users dialog and puts his name into the list:

Pete checks Not listed here and closes the box.

After that Pete turns on Security page and sets up a password.
